Importing Existing Decisions

Bring historical ADRs and decision documents into DecisionOps without losing the original reasoning.

Most teams start with decisions that already exist in docs, ADR folders, wikis, or pull request threads.

The migration goal is not to rewrite everything on day one. It is to identify the decisions that still guide work and make them discoverable in DecisionOps.

  1. Start with active architectural or governance decisions
  2. Normalize titles and scope so they are searchable
  3. Preserve alternatives and consequences where possible
  4. Publish the most useful records first
  5. Add superseding records later if history needs refinement
